Fixed Tuition is a program for qualifying NC residents pursuing a first bachelor’s degree. Eligible students who enroll for the first time at Appalachian State will be charged the tuition rate of their entering semester for the next 8 consecutive semesters of their enrollment. Appalachian offers financial aid, student employment and merit scholarships to help keep a college education within reach. Seventy percent of Appalachian students receive some form of financial aid. To be considered for aid, complete and submit a FAFSA as early as possible and before the priority deadline of March 1.

Each year Appalachian awards more than $4 million in merit scholarships. Appalachian is also the home of several selective scholarship programs that offer more than just money for college that provide leadership opportunities and mentorship in connecting student ambitions to significant impacts on either a local or global scale.
Appropriate tuition charges are determined centrally by North Carolina's Residency Determination Service (RDS) and rest upon whether a student is or is not a resident for tuition purposes.
