11th Grade College Prep Checklist

  • STAY on track to meet the minimum course requirements for college admission.

  • TAKE the SAT and/or ACT multiple times. Nearly all App State applicants take these more than once.

  • CONNECT with admission counselors at a college fair in your area.

  • VISIT – again and again! Become a student for a day, attend open house, spend a weekend with a friend or just explore Boone for the afternoon.

The Honors College offers an enhanced intellectual experience for the most academically motivated students on campus. The Honors curriculum includes topically focused, interdisciplinary, and discussion-based seminars. It extends to a required international experience, and culminates in an Honors thesis as original research or a creative endeavor.  From the Honors experience, students emerge as lifelong learners well prepared for post-graduate training—leaders of the future.

Explore the Reich College of Education

Appalachian offers one of the largest undergraduate teacher preparation programs in North Carolina, graduating about 500 teachers a year and enrolling approximately 2,400 students in its bachelor's, master's, education specialist and doctoral degree programs. With so many teacher education graduates working in the state, there is at least one App graduate teaching in every county in North Carolina.
