A Flood Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for Watauga County effective 1 pm Friday, December 14 until 6 pm Saturday, December 15. This includes Appalachian State University. Boone, North Carolina, is a great place to go on fun outings with your significant other. There are tons of opportunities for dates in and around Boone, and utilizing the outdoors/mountains adds a lot of fun. There are beautiful scenic views and incredible places to go for fun dates, and you do not have to spend a lot of money to do so!

One of my favorite places to take my girlfriend is Valle Crucis Community Park. This is a beautiful little spot about 10-15 minutes outside of town. This park is right by the Watauga River and is gorgeous year-round. It is a perfect spot for picnics or a fun day of fishing! Teaching my girlfriend how to fly fish has been one of the most memorable times we’ve had in Boone! The park has a lot of space and is very enjoyable to have a picnic, go on a walk or do a little bit of fishing! Going on hikes around Boone is also a fun idea for a date. All it requires is a short drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway, and you’ll find plenty of trails to go hike. You can get lost all day hiking and having a great time! And you get to take in the amazing mountain views while you do so.

Boone is such a unique place, because it offers both the mountains and city-life. You could spend the day with your significant other driving on the parkway, then, end the night at the Red Onion or Cafe Portofino’s. King Street is another fantastic option! For example, my girlfriend doesn’t attend Appalachian State University, so one of her favorite things to do is shop on King Street and eat at Our Daily Bread. There are tons of shops and cool places to go to on King Street, making it a great opportunity for date ideas. For these reasons, Boone is one of the best places to explore with your significant other. The mountains and surrounding areas provide one of the coolest mountain towns in North Carolina!
