Middle School Group ToursPreparing for Your Tour
  • Plan to allow approximately two hours for your visit which will include a multi-media presentation highlighting the area, the campus, and our students; a discussion of admission criteria; and a walking campus tour.
  • Please make sure your group members are aware of conduct expectations before arriving on our campus.
Group Tour Etiquette
  • Participants should be attentive to the presentation and respectful to our staff and student Ambassadors. We also expect group members to be active participants in the Admissions/Appalachian experience.
  • If your group is going to be more than five minutes late, please call 828-262-2179 to inform us of your expected arrival time. We will make every effort to accommodate late arrivals, however, in an effort to keep on schedule when arriving late the group may only receive the multimedia presentation.
  • The Office of Admissions is located in the John Thomas building with various other university offices. Please encourage your group to move quietly and orderly within the building.
  • Cell phone usage is not permitted during the presentation or during the campus tour.
  • Participants are expected to follow the suggested campus tour route with the Ambassador hosts.
  • Participants must have a proper number of chaperones and staff present at all times during the campus visit.
  • Participants should be aware that classes are in session and appropriate behavior is expected throughout the duration of the campus tour.
  • We expect for any visitors behavioral issues to be dealt with by group chaperones. If behavioral issues are not appropriately and timely addressed, our Ambassadors have the discretion to stop the campus tour and return the group to the Office of Admissions for early departure from our campus.
  • Due to campus smoking restrictions, smoking is not permitted on campus tours.
