Financial Information

At this time, Appalachian is unable to offer financial assistance to incoming international students. All applicants must have sufficient financial resources to cover their expenses in full.

Estimated Costs

A current estimate of expenses for one unmarried student living on campus for one academic year (fall and spring semesters) is $30,715.00. This is the amount required on the financial statement for the I-20.  Details of this estimate are in the table below. Students who bring spouses or children should allocate an additional $3,000 for the first dependent and $1,000 for each dependent thereafter.

In calculating expenses, students should understand that individuals who hold student (F-1) visas may not legally work off-campus during their first year in F-1 status. International applicants must not, therefore, count on employment, including part-time during the academic year or full-time during the summer, as a primary means of financial support while attending Appalachian.
