New Student Guidebook, 2013

The New Student Guidebook is a step-by-step guide to enrollment and contains everything you need to know about Orientation, housing, financial aid and more. The book is mailed to all accepted freshman and transfer students entering in the Summer and Fall terms.

Summer Options for Freshmen

First AscentFirst Ascent - Take a hike on the wild side with First Ascent, Appalachian’s wilderness orientation program for first year students. It’s completely optional, but it’s a great way to spend four days exploring the spectacular forests near Appalachian’s campus with your new classmates.

TrailheadTrailhead Academies - Are you interested in developing your leadership skills? Do you want to know how you can make a real impact at Appalachian? Trailhead Academies may be the answer to get you started. Join this four-day session with some of the strongest students in the incoming freshman class. But don't stop here, there are other Freshmen leadership programs to consider. 

Summer Bridge Math ScienceMath Science Summer Bridge - Want to major in science or math but need a little help preparing for calculus? The Math Science Summer Bridge Program will help you gain the skills you will need to succeed and along the way you’ll meet faculty and other new students--friends you will keep all four years.
