Ready to take advantage of your “Mountains of Opportunity” at Appalachian? Before you can begin, there are a few important tasks for you to complete. Complete your checklist as soon as possible and you will be off to a great start.
New Student Guidebook, 2013
The New Student Guidebook is a step-by-step guide to enrollment and contains everything you need to know about Orientation, housing, financial aid and more. The book is mailed to all accepted freshman and transfer students entering in the Summer and Fall terms.

MAP-Works
MAP-Works empowers you to take control of your academic future. It identifies your areas of strength and difficulty and directs you to campus resources designed to help with your individual struggles, such as advising, tutoring, or counseling. Learn more.

Join the Facebook Group Class of 2017
Beginning in January, join other admitted students in the AppState Class of 2017 group and find a roommate, ask questions, see upcoming events for admitted students or start your own discussion. Only admitted students allowed!

Summer Options for Freshmen
First Ascent - Take a hike on the wild side with First Ascent, Appalachian’s wilderness orientation program for first year students. It’s completely optional, but it’s a great way to spend four days exploring the spectacular forests near Appalachian’s campus with your new classmates.
Trailhead Academies - Are you interested in developing your leadership skills? Do you want to know how you can make a real impact at Appalachian? Trailhead Academies may be the answer to get you started. Join this four-day session with some of the strongest students in the incoming freshman class. But don't stop here, there are other Freshmen leadership programs to consider.
Math Science Summer Bridge - Want to major in science or math but need a little help preparing for calculus? The Math Science Summer Bridge Program will help you gain the skills you will need to succeed and along the way you’ll meet faculty and other new students--friends you will keep all four years.
